Last Saturday we took the kids to a little fair at a church. Madeline got to ride a horse and get her face painted(and a bunch of other things) and Duncan got to play in the playground.
This week Madeline:

Reading- continued silent e long vowel words in OPG, and got some Bob books from Costco
Handwriting and readiness- Ll-Pp and worked on our memory skills
Bible- read about the Tower of Babel, Abraham, and Lot, memorized 2Corintheans 9:7
Science- learned about the wind, tornadoes, and the months of summer
Read-alouds- more from Uncle Wiggily, and started the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and Wizard of Oz.
This week Duncan:
Worked on his peg board. He has amazing fine motor skills.
Started favoring his right hand more then his left.
FINALLY broke his 8th tooth.
Loved playing with the Play silk.
Was introduced to the training potty and swiftly peed on the floor after getting off said potty.

Played outside every chance he got.
Enjoyed a Popsicle during read aloud time.
We enjoyed our song of the week also, Father Abraham.
We also took a nature walk and discovered Cat Tails by the pond and how corn grows.
I'll leave you with pictures from the kids favorite thing we did this week, the children's museum.
Hi there!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog on the SL blog roll hop. Your year so far sounds a lot like mine did last year.
This will be our third year using Sonlight and we just love it. I hope you find you do too!
Going to 'follow' your blog. Love connecting with other Sonlighters.
Stop in and see us too, if you get the chance!

What a great week! I love the pictures of your sweet children. I remember reading Uncle Wiggly to my son. He loved that book.
ReplyDeleteYou're a busy mom! I always read aloud to my kids during lunch since it keeps them focused at the table (I only read while they are eating, and stop if they forget to eat) and it makes for a nice, calm lunch. They still ask me to read to them every day that we are home for lunch, which means that I've been reading at lunchtime for 5 1/2 years now! I even read to them when they have friends over during playdates, and the friends always remember and ask me to read to them the next time they come over. So fun!
